Trips

Do I need to be very fit to join a trip?

It depends on the trip. Each one has a clear difficulty rating and fitness requirement on its page — some are genuinely achievable off the sofa, others require training. If you're unsure whether something is right for your current fitness level, just ask us.

I've never been to the mountains before. Can I still come?

Yes. Our introductory trips are specifically designed for people who are new to the mountains. You'll be guided every step of the way, and you'll leave with skills and confidence you can take forward.

What do I need to bring?

Each trip page includes a detailed kit list. In general: good waterproof jacket and trousers, sturdy footwear (boots for anything mountainous), layers, snacks, and a positive attitude. Don't show up in new boots you've never worn — break them in first.

How big are the groups?

We keep groups small — typically 6–12 people. This means you get real attention from the guide, and the trip feels like an adventure with a group of people rather than a cattle drive.

What if the weather is bad?

The mountains have weather. We plan for it. Our guides make safety decisions in the field, which may include altering the route or timing. A bit of rain is not a reason to cancel — genuinely dangerous conditions are. We'll always communicate clearly if plans change.

Are trips suitable for people who don't live in London?

Absolutely. Most of our trips depart from the destination itself, not London. Details of meeting points and travel advice are on each trip page.

Booking and Payment

How does the deposit system work?

You pay a deposit to secure your place. The remaining balance is due 60 days before departure — we'll send you a payment link. Your deposit is non-refundable from the moment you pay it. See our Jove Adventure Terms for full details.

Can I transfer my booking to someone else?

Yes — with our agreement. The person taking your place needs to meet the fitness requirements for the trip. Get in touch and we'll sort it.

What if I need to cancel?

Your deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances. If you cancel more than 60 days before departure, your balance will not be charged (or will be refunded if already paid). If you cancel within 60 days of departure, no refund is due on any amount paid. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major debit and credit cards via Stripe. Payment is taken securely at checkout.

Training Sessions

Where are the training sessions held?

Our group sessions are held outdoors in London, typically in parks. The exact location rotates — you'll see the specific venue when you book.

What do I need for a session?

Just normal training kit. Trainers are fine. We train outdoors in all weathers, so bring a light jacket if it's cold.

What if I'm not in London?

We offer remote coaching plans that work wherever you are. Same structured approach, delivered digitally.

Can I come to a session before booking a trip?

Yes — sessions are open to anyone and are a great way to meet people who've been on trips and get a feel for the club before committing.

What is Jove Club, exactly?

Jove Club is a fitness and adventure club for people who want to get outdoors more. There are three parts: trips (guided adventures across the UK and beyond), training (sessions and coaching to prepare for them), and the bonds that form when you do both. When you book a trip, you're joining Jove Club.

I have a medical condition — can I still join?

Many people with medical conditions participate in our trips and sessions. Please tell us at the time of booking so we can advise on suitability and ensure guides are informed. Some trips may not be appropriate for certain conditions — we'll always be honest with you.

Can companies book trips for their teams?

Yes. We run bespoke corporate away-days and expeditions for companies. See our Corporate page for more, or get in touch directly.
