Social: Box Hill Trail Run (~10km, SLOW)

The run is the excuse. The pub is the highlight...
We just happen to earn it through some very scenic Surrey Hills trails first.

Date: Saturday 23 May 2026 (meet at 10am)

Location: Box Hill, Surrey Hills, UK

Duration: Half day (trail run + pub lunch)

Level: Beginner friendly - this is not meant to be a training run or even that much of a challenge… Not sure if it’s for you? Read on…

Cost: FREE - you have to pay for your lunch and transport but coaching and guidance is free.

We’re heading just outside London for a trail run through the Surrey Hills, finishing with a well-earned pub lunch at one of our favourites.

Box Hill is a classic for a reason: rolling woodland trails, chalk paths, short climbs that get the legs working, and views across the North Downs. It’s proper trail running without needing a car or an early start - just hop on a train and go.

This is a social run first and foremost. We’ll move as a group, regroup regularly, and enjoy the terrain together before warming up inside at The Stepping Stones.

Our last Box Hill run in February!

All of our trail runs this year have featured exceptional weather :)

The Run

We move as a group. We regroup at the top of every climb. Nobody gets left behind and nobody's checking the clock.

Box Hill is a proper trail running location without requiring serious trail running experience! Woodland, chalk paths, a few short climbs that'll get your legs going - and views across the North Downs that make the whole thing feel worth it even before the pub. After the run, we head to The Stepping Stones. Food. Drinks. The bit everyone looks forward to most.

Meeting point: If you’re not coming on the train, meet us at Rykas Cafe for 10.15am

Distance: ~10km (route options depending on the group and conditions)

Pace: Social / we don’t care about going quickly!

Lunch: We aim to get to the pub for 12.30pm - people can stay as long as they like.

This is NOT a Training Run

We mean that. There are no performance expectations here. If you're looking to push times or hit a training stimulus, we have other events for that.

This one exists because sometimes the best thing you can do on a Saturday is get outside, move your body in a beautiful place, and share a meal with good people.

Why Free?

“I genuinely love these events! They’re a great way to meet new people and catch up with regular Jove attendees. It’s not a trick - we won’t be pushing a paid trip or coaching product unless you ask about it! It’s just a really fun way to spend a few hours on a Saturday morning” - Freddie, Founder of Jove Club

Post-Run Lunch 🍻

We’ll head straight to The Stepping Stones pub after the run - a very short walk from the station.

Travel

  • Train from London Waterloo to Box Hill & Westhumble (~50 minutes)

  • Driving is also easy with plenty of options to park

We’ll share a suggested train in advance so people can travel together if they want.

Who’s It For?

This one’s ideal if:

  • You want to try trail running

  • You’re bored of winter road running

  • You want something social without committing to a full weekend

Honestly if you can run 5km at any pace, you’ll have no problem joining us for this run.
